What is a jockstrap, exactly?

A jockstrap has three parts: a supportive front (the pouch), a wide waistband, and two elastic straps that run around the buttocks and leave the back free. The cut comes from sport originally — it holds where support is needed and lets the rest breathe. Today it is worn just as often as underwear, for parties, or in a fetish context.

How should a jockstrap fit?

Three things decide the fit:

  • The waistband sits level on the hips, without cutting in and without sliding. If it rides up as you walk, the size is too small.
  • The pouch should hold, not squeeze. Some models have an anatomically shaped or push-up pouch — those lift visually without being tighter.
  • The straps run below the buttocks and stay there. If they roll up, the elastic is too narrow for the cut or the size is wrong.

Which jockstrap for which occasion?

Sport and training

For training, function comes first: a firm, wide waistband, breathable fabric, no frills. The ADDICTED basic models are cut exactly for that — invisible under shorts and secure under load.

Party and going out

Here mesh, neon or gloss are fair game. The cut stays the same, the effect is different. If you are reaching for a party jock for the first time, a classic cut in a strong colour is never wrong.

AD Fetish

The fetish line works with patent and rubber looks, mesh and double stripes — the look of a hard material, but elastic enough for a whole night. Pairs with: harnesses and mesh pieces.

The model families at a glance

ADDICTED builds the jockstrap in several lines, differing in waistband, pouch and fabric:

  • Basic: cotton with elastane, wide logo waistband, anatomical pouch. The everyday cut — discreet under any trousers, comfortable over long hours.
  • Push-up: a pre-shaped pouch lifts without sitting tighter. The size stays the same as the basic model; the shape changes, not the circumference.
  • Ring up: the metal ring at the front is the brand's best-known design feature. Visually striking, identical in fit to the basic.
  • Mesh and net: airy, semi-transparent, cool. For summer and for the club — and in dark colours far more restrained than most people expect.
  • AD Fetish: patent, rubber and double-stripe looks, stronger straps, often combinable with a harness.

Jockstrap, brief or thong — what is the difference?

All three leave more skin free than boxer shorts, but in different places. The brief covers the seat completely and is the most discreet of the three. The thong has a narrow band at the back; it adds no bulk under tight clothing and leaves no visible line. The jockstrap leaves the back entirely free and gives the strongest support at the front — two side straps hold it in place. Most people switching for the first time find the jockstrap more comfortable than expected: less fabric means less friction, especially on warm days.

What do you wear over it?

Under jeans, chinos and suit trousers a jockstrap is invisible — the straps lie flat and do not show. Under thin sports or running shorts the waistband can show slightly; that is more a question of the trouser colour than of the underwear. With light trousers, choose a skin-tone or dark model rather than white — white shows through the most.

Choosing a size: the most common mistakes

The most common mistake is going a size down because "it should sit tighter". A jockstrap holds through its cut, not through compression — too small only means the waistband cuts in and the straps slide. Go by your hip measurement and take the larger number if in doubt; the exact values are in our size guide.

Care: keeping the support

Elastic underwear does not like heat. 30 °C, delicate detergent, no fabric softener (it attacks the elastane fibres), no tumble dryer. Best washed in a laundry bag and dried flat or hung — then the waistband stays firm for years. Do not iron silicone logos.

Common questions

Can you wear a jockstrap all day? Yes — in the right size it is more comfortable than tight boxer shorts, because less fabric rests on the skin.

Does it show under trousers? Under jeans and chinos, practically never; under thin sports shorts the waistband shows slightly.

What is the difference from a thong? The thong has a narrow band at the back, the jockstrap none at all — instead it has two side straps and more support at the front.
